The San Francisco 49ers filled their 53rd roster spot on Saturday, promoting cornerback Leon McFadden in order to boost the team's depth at the back of the secondary rotation.
Per Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, "McFadden (5 foot 10, 190 pounds) signed with the 49ers’ practice on Sept. 15 after being released by the New York Jets. He spent 11 days with the Jets after being claimed off waivers from the Cleveland Browns. As a rookie in 2013 from San Diego State, McFadden saw action in 16 games with two starts for the Browns."
With cornerback Tramaine Brock sidelined for Sunday's game against the St. Louis Rams with a toe injury, there is a very good chance that McFadden could be fully activated for the NFC West showdown.
However, no official word has been given as to whether or not he will be worked in on Sunday. Stay tuned.
