NFL training camps are winding down around the nation and we're starting to get a glimpse at just how rosters are going to shake out when Week 1 kicks off in just under two weeks. What's the story for the San Francisco 49ers right now? Here's 3 Things We Learned In San Francisco 49ers Training Camp This Week.
1) Kaepernick Is Improving Rapidly
Those on the ground watching 49ers camp over the past few weeks have marvelled about just how quick Colin Kaepernick is cycling through his progressions. While it's too early to judge whether that's going to fully translate to regular season action, things look promising when it comes to one of Kaepernick's weak points as a passer.
2) Carlos Hyde Is Taking Over
Reggie Bush is getting plenty of publicity in training camp, but he'll likely only get about 10 carries per game. The way reps have been divvied out in camp, expect Hyde to be the unquestioned feature back and to be the between-the-tackles yin to Reggie Bush's stretch-rush yang.
3) Jarryd Hayne Looks Like A Roster Lock
Hayne has only played football for about a year, but the former rugby star looks like he'll make the team's final 53-man roster thanks to his punt return fireworks so far (21.6-yards per return) and his fire as a tackler on special teams.
