The San Francisco 49ers hold the No. 2 pick in the NFL Draft after a disappointing 2016 campaign, and this team is looking to add an impact player they can build around going into next season. Here are three players the 49ers should target with that pick:
1) Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford Cardinal
Thomas has been the biggest riser up draft boards, and now there is a lot of buzz about San Francisco taking him with the No. 2 pick. A versatile pass rusher, Thomas can make an impact anywhere along the defensive line, and is athletic enough to be a pass-rushing outside linebacker if need be.

2) Mitch Trubisky, QB, North Carolina Tar Heels
San Francisco needs weapons for a QB badly, but also a QB in general. New coaches means new QBs, and that's probably going to be the case in San Francisco. Trubisky, not Deshaun Watson, is the early favorite to be the first QB taken, as he's accurate and a solid decision maker. Trubisky has just one year of starting experience, but has risen throughout the season.

3) Jonathan Allen, DL, Alabama Crimson Tide
Allen is heralded as one of the very best players in the draft class, and if the 49ers decide to pass on a quarterback (and Garrett is off the board), Allen may be the guy they take. His size and athleticism allow him to play either end or tackle, and has a significant impact rushing the passer and stopping the run from either spot. That kind of versatility makes him extremely valuable.
