Without its leading scorer, San Diego State men’s basketball gave all it had but came up just short in a 64-59 loss to Utah State on Jan. 16 in Logan, Utah.
In a back-and-forth affair that featured seven lead changes and six ties, Aggies’ freshman guard Steven Ashworth scored a career-high 17 points and game-sealing free throws with just three seconds left.
Head coach Brian Dutcher said he appreciated the team’s willingness to show effort while overcoming adversity.
“Disappointing loss, but with that being said, I like the grit and toughness of this team,” Dutcher said.
