There is plenty of evidence that a number of Padres players have treated September (and at least part of August) like the final month on the elementary school calendar.
Vacation can’t come soon enough.
Certainly, for most, these last six games exist merely as dates to be crossed off.
And, really, there hasn’t been anything tangible to play for since the team won just seven of its 23 games coming out of the All-Star break.
Sure, theoretically, several Padres players have had something to play for and still do.
The reality is maybe 10 current players are guaranteed spots on the roster in 2020.
