HOUSTON -- Padres right-hander Kirby Yates exited his outing against the Astros after one pitch on Saturday with an apparent injury. The nature of the injury remains unclear.
Yates had become the Padres' primary set-up man, and he's off to an excellent start to his 2018 campaign. In four appearances, Yates hasn't allowed a run while striking out five over 3 2/3 innings.
A waiver claim from the Angels last season, Yates posted a 3.72 ERA with 87 strikeouts in 55 2/3 innings last year.
The 31-year-old right-hander might have sustained the injury during warmups, when he appeared to pause on the front of the mound in a bit of pain.
