Worlds collided Monday for Don Orsillo. The first-year Padres broadcaster was on the microphone as Dustin Pedroia, the first batter of the afternoon, dug into the batter's box at Petco Park. Pedroia is a friend, as are so many of his teammates and coaches.
There was a time, just months ago, when some wondered if Orsillo would ever call one of their games again.
But now, the Boston Red Sox are in town, here for the first time since 2007. And while their visit jogs two decades of memories — many joyous, some bittersweet — Orsillo insists he is more than content right where he is.
