After winning the Amgen Tour of California in 2014, Bradley Wiggins skipped last year’s race. Britain’s most famous cyclist will be back in the saddle when the 11th annual event commences Sunday morning in Mission Bay.
Just don’t expect the 2012 Tour de France champion to repeat his California victory.
“As much as I’d love to,” said Wiggins after a Friday press conference at the San Diego Yacht Club, “it’s not going to happen.”
At 36, Wiggins is in the twilight of a remarkable career, highlighted by success on the track and road. His hardware collection includes seven Olympic medals, four of them gold.
