Jackson Merrill was already loved in San Diego but it just went to another level (if that’s even possible). You’ve already heard about his 9-year, $135 million extension that was finalized this morning with the Padres but I want to stop and appreciate the guy that signed this deal.
Before getting to the deal itself, he was already a great human being before this. His parents, who are teachers and seem to be amazing people, raised him well. The way he loves playing the game and how much he loves being at the field is refreshing in this day and age where there’s so much talk about money and roster construction.
