In the latest balloting results for the 2015 MLB All-Star Game, released Tuesday, Upton has 2,213,802 votes. He slipped one spot from last week.
Upton could still make a late charge and is facing a team Tuesday -- the Padres open a three-game series against the Giants at AT&T Park -- he's had success against this season.
Upton entered Tuesday hitting .304 with two home runs in seven games against the Giants this season.
He's a two-time All-Star, but he has not been selected to participate since 2011.
Derek Norris, whose 28 extra-base hits led all Major League catchers entering Tuesday, was not among the NL catchers.
