Melvin Upton Jr.'s first impression with the Padres rekindled the lasting impression he left at Turner Field.
A target of derision from Atlanta Braves fans through most of his two years with the club, Upton Jr. heard catcalls from the small crowd at Turner Field throughout the occasion of his debut with the Padres. He was loudly booed when going out to pinch-run for Yonder Alonso in the ninth inning of a series-opener the Padres trailed 3-2, booed louder when drawing a wild throw from closer Jason Grilli that enabled Upton Jr. to reach third, some of it surely aimed at Grilli.
