WASHINGTON — The oddness - and the humor - of the situation is not lost on Trea Turner, a 22-year-old mature beyond his age.
"I was talking to Joe (Ross)," Turner said of his former Padres and now Nationals teammate, "and it's kind of funny that we're both here. Before the year, nobody necessarily would've expected it. It's just funny that we're on the other side of the field. It's a little bit funny; you kind of have to laugh at it. At the same time, it's pretty cool."
While Ross, another 22-year-old, will take the mound for the Nationals on Thursday, Turner could receive his first major league start this series - against the same organization that drafted and, at least for a while, developed him.
