Left fielder Nick Torres was 3-for-6, center fielder Michael Gettys homered and Fort Wayne pitchers had a season-high 16 strikeouts Thursday night as the Class A TinCaps opened the second half of the Midwest League season with a 13-inning, 4-1 win at Great Lakes.
The win was the season-high fifth straight for Fort Wayne, which improved to 33-36 overall.
Torres raised his batting average to .322. The homer was the third for Gettys (.229), San Diego's second-round pick in the 2014 Draft.
