PEORIA, Ariz. — As results go, Andrew Cashner could not have expected much better than Saturday’s 45-pitch outing in a 6-3 win over the Indians.
Pushing his fastball up to 96 mph in his second Cactus League start, the 29-year-old right-hander struck out five and walked one over three scoreless innings. He continued to mix in change-ups and sliders, but noted spot-on fastball command as a key to a hitless outing in which he retired the final seven batters he faced and fetched four groundouts, including an inning-ending double play to erased a four-pitch walk in the first inning.
