There is a humorous, head-shaking video on Twitter that overlays Arizona right-hander Zack Greinke pitching to Atlanta Braves second baseman Ozzie Albies on top of the running of the 2019 Kentucky Derby.
The entire two-minute horse race is run during the time it takes a 3-2 pitch to be thrown to Albies from Greinke, who does seemingly everything on the mound he can think of to avoid delivering a pitch.
Greinke looks in for his sign, checks the runner at first base, looks in again for the sign, watches Albies step out because the pitcher is taking too much time, shakes off his catcher’s request for a meeting at the mound, looks in again for a sign, shakes off the sign, watches Albies step out again, looks in again for a sign, shakes off the sign, has the catcher come out from behind the plate for a chat (as the crowd boos), gets set again and finally delivers the pitch for a flyout to left field.
