I’ve already said comparing Paul Skenes to Jackson Merrill is stupid but that continues to happen since there’s only one NL Rookie of the Year award. Today, the 21-year-old continued to show why he is the real Rookie of the Year.
Does winning matter? Check. ‘It’s not the NBA though. One guy can’t carry a team’. Ok well Merrill has an .807 OPS, 19 home runs and is playing well at an important defensive position (every day). Oh and he’s making history with Frank Robinson.
Jackson Merrill has 6 game-tying or go-ahead HR in the 8th inning or later this season, tied for most in a season at age 21 or younger since 1900, with:
1956 Frank Robinson
