Padres top prospect Fernando Tatis Jr., baseball's No. 3 prospect according to MLB Pipeline, hurt his left thumb in Double-A San Antonio's 7-4 win over Frisco on Thursday.
Even though the injury was to the 19-year-old shortstop's non-throwing hand, early signs indicated that it was serious, Padres general manager A.J. Preller said.
"We'll have more information I think here this weekend," Preller said Friday morning. "But right now … he's going to go for an MRI. He's had an X-ray. I think we'll look at potentially a fracture, potentially some ligament damage.
