Glenn Hoffman was drafted in the second round by the Boston Red Sox in 1976. More than four decades later, one of his twin sons, Dylan, was selected by the Padres in the 39th round this past June out of Waldorf University. He’s a “crafty little left-hander,” the Padres’ long-time third base coach said with a smile as the 24-year-old Dylan settles into the rookie-level Arizona League as dad watches as closely as he can from afar.

Hoffman: It’s been really neat because starting out, when they were younger in youth ball, I wasn’t around much.
