The San Diego Padres have one week left in the Cactus League season. With six games left to play, multiple roster spots are still open and the competition is fierce. Injury and illness have contributed to some of the final decisions but there is still work to be done to finalize the roster for Opening Day.
Veteran outfielder Jason Heyward was not signed only to be cut at the end of spring. Same can be said for infielder Jose Iglesias. Neither of them should need to prove themselves during a spring tryout, as both are proven and reliable.
