Earlier this year, the Padres made a flurry of moves prior to the trade deadline. One of those moves was sending minor leaguers Hudson Potts and Jeisson Rosario to the Red Sox for Mitch Moreland. San Diego acquired a veteran presence to help them on their way to fighting for a World Series pennant.
The Padres didn’t get there, but there’s still plenty of optimism heading into the 2021 season. One of the questions A.J. Preller has to figure out is whether or not to pick up Moreland’s $3 million option for next year, or buy out his option at $500,000.
