The Padres are clearly pushovers no more. Sunday’s Petco Park-record of six homers thrust them into a tie with the Dodgers with a big-league best 29 homers. In fact, every run the Padres (9-7) scored this weekend in taking two of three against against the Diamondbacks (6-10) scored via the long ball.
That’s fun … but potentially problematic in the long run if they can’t find other ways to push runs across the plate.
The scores
Player of the series
Fernando Tatis Jr.
Who else? The Padres’ 21-year-old shortstop continued a blistering start to the season by going 6-for-12 with four homers and five RBIs in the series.
