PEORIA, Ariz. -- The Seattle Mariners have rounded out their bullpen just before the start of the season by acquiring right-hander Nick Vincent from the San Diego Padres for a player to be named.
The Mariners announced the deal Wednesday morning. Vincent is expected to pitch in a minor-league game for Seattle on Thursday and with the Mariners either Friday or Saturday. Seattle now has a full 40-man roster.
"He's very cutter-centric and has a very usable fastball," Mariners manager Jerry Dipoto told reporters. "He's got some history in the big leagues, and it gives us a nice upgrade and additional depth in the bullpen.
