Scout weighs in on what’s going on with Padres

Quick hits on the Padres, from a major league scout:

The over-arching opinion is positive.

He likes what he’s seen from most of the young talent, but said it’s important to bear in mind that the young players still have a lot to learn.

He suggested the long season especially challenges rookies.

His biggest disappointment is Franchy Cordero has seldom played this year. Injuries have limited Cordero to nine games with the Padres and 11 games in the Pacific Coast League. The outfielder will turn 25 in September.

“It is a shame because he is a very talented young guy,” the scout said.
