Schimpf hits first long ball of spring

Angels right-hander Ricky Nolasco proved that he is ready to get the season started. Nolasco, who has already secured his spot in the rotation, surrendered two runs in 6 1/3 innings. He retired 10 of 11 at one point.

C.J. Cron put the Angels on top with a first-inning single off Padres starter Luis Perdomo, and Ben Revere tacked on the second run in the fifth with a perfectly executed squeeze bunt. Cron is hitting .340 this spring.

Perdomo continued his push for a starting job with five innings of two-run ball.
