Nick Pivetta made his first regular season start as a member of the San Diego Padres and led his team to a sweep of the Atlanta Braves with a 5-0 win at Petco Park, Sunday.
Pivetta worked well with catcher Elias Diaz and was efficient against an Atlanta lineup that is expected to challenge for the NL East crown. He faced the minimum number of Braves through seven innings.
Pivetta finished the day with no runs allowed one hit, no walks and four strikeouts. The one hit Pivetta gave up came in the top of the third, but the runner was erased one a fielder’s choice and then on a double play.
