As per Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune, Chris Young has been informed by the San Diego Padres that he will not be with the team to start the season.
Per the guidelines of his contract, Young can opt-out of his deal if he’s not with the major-league roster on Opening Day, and it looks like he will do just that.
In other news from Acee, either Robbie Erlin or Tyson Ross will take the rotation spot of Dinelson Lamet, meaning that Joey Lucchesi will most likely be waiting out the Super Two process before making his MLB debut, unless another unexpected injury strikes the Friars’ pitching staff, of course.
