Baseball statistics never cease to amaze me. Advanced analytics have taken over the sport and fans dissect each and every number possible, however, often times, there aren’t answers for why we see some of the statistics we do. The Baltimore Orioles traded the only offensive player worth anything on their roster (Manny Machado), yet are scoring more runs than anyone in baseball since trading him. The Oakland A’s are good. The San Diego Padres aren’t hitting home runs this year, yet one player is about to break a home run record. Nothing makes sense.
As a team, the Padres are tied with the Kansas City Royals for 27th in the league in home runs at 95.
