San Diego Padres, Cal Quantrill hunting for series win: Game 2 preview

Eric Lauer led the San Diego Padres to a 4-3 win against the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday, but with the way Lauer has dominated L.A. throughout his career, it was almost to be expected.

Now, the Friars will send out Cal Quantrill (6-4) in hopes of earning their first series win since playing the Philadelphia Phillies. He’ll need to go through Walker Buehler (10-3) to do so.

Quantrill had a tough game against the Cincinnati Reds, at least in comparison to his prior starts. He had cruised through five innings of one-run ball after allowing a sacrifice fly in the first inning, but a single mistake allowed the Reds to gain the lead with a two-run homer.
