PHOENIX -- Tyson Ross flirted with history, but like so many other standout performances from Padres pitchers, this one will go down as yet another close call.
Ross took a no-hitter into the eighth, but couldn't get the third out to send it to the ninth. He lost it when the D-backs' Christian Walker hit an RBI double over the head of center fielder Franchy Cordero that not only ended the no-no, but tied the game, 1-1.
The Padres are still the only franchise in the Majors without a no-hitter.
