I didn’t watch the game tonight, and thank the baseball gods for that. After his great start on Opening Day, Clayton Richard surrendered five runs in the first two innings tonight. But just like that Opening Day start, he got absolutely no support from his offense. After Christian Villanueva powered the Padres to their first win of the season yesterday, the bats went an abysmal 6-for-32, with only one of those hits coming with a runner in scoring position.
While Clayton’s first two innings were abysmal, he settled in for three more scoreless frames.
