PEORIA, Ariz. -- The worst kept secret in Padres camp this spring is no longer a secret: Clayton Richard is scheduled to start on Opening Day against Milwaukee on March 29.
For the 34-year-old left-hander, it's the first time in 10 big league seasons that he's been honored with an Opening Day start. Last year he posted a 4.79 ERA in 32 starts, with a 4.23 FIP.
The lid-lifter will take place at Petco Park on March 29 at 1:10 p.m. PT, the first time that the Brewers and Padres open the season against each other.
