Ryan Butler, one of the Padres' top pitching prospects, has been suspended for violating baseball's minor league drug program.
Butler, 23, received a 50-game suspension without pay following a second positive test for a drug of abuse. The suspension will be effective at the start of the 2016 California League season; Butler currently is on the roster of High Single-A Lake Elsinore.
