The Padres got lucky today. I mean, they didn’t win, but they didn’t have to play a whole nine innings to get the loss they were headed for from the second inning. Robbie Erlin had an absolutely miserable night that ended after a seven-run third, but the bullpen only had to cover three innings after his disaster. The offense didn’t do much better, putting together a measly 5-for-24 day. A two-run homer from Eric Hosmer is the only thing that kept the Friars from getting shut out before the rain came pouring down.
