The San Diego Padres M.A.S.H. Unit rolled into Detroit to play the Tigers in the first of three games at Comerica Park, Monday.
With injuries to Jackson Merrill, Jake Cronenworth, Jason Heyward and most recently, Luis Arraez, the starting lineup looked significantly different in Game 23 than it did on Opening Day. That did not stop the Padres from competing, but the Tigers took the win 6-4.
Randy Vasquez started the game on the mound for the Padres and had a difficult outing. He labored through two-plus innings and allowed six runs over that span. Vasquez threw 68 pitches and had one strikeout and three walks.
