CHICAGO — The Padres could nearly field a basketball team, albeit a hobbled one, with their litany of injured infielders.
In the fifth inning Tuesday at Wrigley Field, Alexei Ramirez doubled in a run. The Padres' starting shortstop pulled up lame going into second, however, and soon walked off the field alongside manager Andy Green and trainer Paul Navarro. He had become the latest San Diego infielder knocked out of a game by a leg injury.
If Ramirez lands on the disabled list, he would join third baseman Yangervis Solarte (right hamstring strain), second baseman Cory Spangenberg (left quad strain) and utility player Alexi Amarista (right hamstring strain).
