Maybe in the early flurry of winning, at least one point to the journey has gotten lost, especially as it pertains to the Padres’ young pitching staff and the fight for jobs.
“What it is, is you have an opportunity to go beat a major league club,” manager Andy Green said. “If you just focus on that — don’t focus on your future or where you’re going to pitch your next game — if you just focus on winning a major league baseball game, guys are going to rise up and win those jobs. Who it is that earns that, we’ll find out in time.
