Quantrill leads Padres’ rookie romp over Rockies

The Padres were in search of their first winning streak of the season’s second half Friday night at Petco Park.

The rookie who has become their most consistent starting pitcher and a few other rookies helped them achieve that modest goal.

The Padres beat the Rockies 7-1, as Cal Quantrill turned in the longest outing of his career, Fernando Tatis Jr. drove in two runs, Luis Urias scored twice and drove in a run and Josh Naylor hit a three-run pinch-hit homer.

In five games since the All-Star break, Quantrill has a 0.93 ERA over 29 innings.
