Much like the world around it, the game of baseball is embracing widespread change in hopes of staging a 60-game season.
The National League is adding a designated hitter for the first time. Teams will carry 30 players to start the year, before rosters are whittled down to 28 and then 26. A runner will be placed on second base to start extra innings. A three-man taxi squad will accompany teams on the road in case of injury or COVID-19 infections and up to 30 players will be training within driving distance of home parks to provide additional depth.
