With a left-hander at on the mound, the Padres are keeping the left-handed Brett Wallace out of the starting lineup for the first time since May 17 (Madison Bumgarner).
Wallace is hitting .233/.425/.300 with nine strikeouts, nine walks and nine RBIs over his last 10 starts, eight of which came at third base. Against left-handers, Wallace is hitting .333/.467/.417 in 15 plate appearances as most of his chances (108) have come against righties.
Today, the lone left-handed hitters in the lineup are the leadoff hitter Jon Jay (6-for-21 in last seven games) and second baseman Alexi Amarista (2-for-14 in last seven games).
