On Sunday, Andy Green will ask Edwin Jackson to take the mound as the 11th starter used by the Padres’ rookie manager this season. The 32-year-old’s resume as a veteran of 14 major league seasons overshadowed his most recent results at Triple-A El Paso, although Green was quick to suggest that Jackson’s stuff wasn’t quite deserving of the 7.11 Pacific Coast League ERA that he’ll carry into Sunday’s Padres debut.
“His stuff’s still there,” Green said Saturday afternoon. “I just watched his last start. It wasn’t great from a stats perspective, but his stuff is up to 95 and 96 at times.
