Alex Dickerson arrived at Petco Park on Monday for the first time as an opposing player and made a left turn to the visiting clubhouse instead of the right turn he’d made the last five seasons. The 29-year-old Poway native admitted it was a strange sensation.
What isn’t so strange is that he wound up in another uniform. Truth be told, Dickerson, having lost successive seasons to back and elbow surgeries, expected he’d eventually find himself in another uniform in the majors even after returning to the Padres this offseason on a minor league deal.
“I had just missed two years,” Dickerson said.
