For the second game in as many days, a San Diego Padres starting pitcher struggled with command, walked in a run and suffered a loss at the hands of the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.
Padres starter Nick Pivetta labored through three innings of work. He threw 76 pitches over that span and allowed three runs on six hits with three walks and four strikeouts. Pivetta struck out the last two batters he faced with one out and the bases loaded in the bottom of the third inning to keep San Diego in the game at 3-0.
Chicago added to its total over the remainder of the game.
