Padres win series 3-1, drop final game 3-0 to D-Backs

The Padres couldn’t complete the opening series sweep against the Diamondbacks as they fell 3-1 at Petco Park on Sunday afternoon. The Friars’ lone score came in the bottom of the ninth when Fernando Tatis Jr. recorded his first home run of the season, a 465-footer over the center field fence. While the hit breathed some life into the Padres, it all came a bit too late.

Tatis’ home run could have had better timing, but it made up for the shortstops’ pair of throwing errors, including one that gave the D-Backs their third run of the day in the top of the third.
