That tomorrow is not guaranteed is what the Padres’ small group of veterans is intent on imprinting in the hearts and minds of the rest of the youngest team in baseball as it stumbles through its next step.
“At this level you can’t take opportunity for granted,” first baseman Eric Hosmer said. “That’s the message we’re trying to get across to these guys.”
These guys are barely guys.
They’re kids.
According to Baseball Reference, the Padres have the youngest average batters age at 26.
