Right before the start of the season, the San Diego Padres made a surprise move in claiming Arizona Diamondbacks OF Socrates Brito off of waivers. Brito is a career .202 hitter and there didn’t seem to be much extra room in the San Diego outfield for him, which left many wondering why the move was made at all.
It turns out to have been a smart move by Padres GM A.J. Preller, who immediately turned Brito around into a prospect from the Toronto Blue Jays.
