The Padres will introduce Jayce Tingler as their manager Thursday.
The team officially announced the hiring of Tingler, which actually happened this past Thursday, in a Monday morning press release.
A Petco Park news conference has been set for 11 a.m. Thursday. The team also announced Tingler will wear No. 32, which was worn most recently by outfielder Franmil Reyes before he was traded to Cleveland.
Tingler agreed to a three-year contract.
