In the wake of a stalled start of the Major League Baseball season, the Padres have agreed to divvy up $1 million among the hundreds of ushers, ticket takers, and concessions, security and janitorial workers who are unable to staff the games because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Making good on a $1 million pledge made by each of the 30 MLB teams, the Padres announced Tuesday that not only are they going to dole out financial assistance to their own employees but also to the game-day workers employed by third-party contractors who staff Petco Park with concession stand workers, janitors and security guards.
