The Brewer’s Brandon Woodruff turned into the brick wall that eventually stopped the Padres’ train of momentum on Monday night after he pitched seven innings, striking out eight batters and allowing just three hits. On the other side, Blake Snell struggled early by allowing a two-run homer in the second before letting up three more runs in the fourth before being pulled.
The Padres (30-18) managed to string together a three-run rally in the ninth to make things interesting, but they inevitably fell 5-3 in Milwaukee.
Tommy Pham got the Friars on the board with a two-run shot to breathe new life into the team late.
