Padres sign C Wynston Sawyer to minor league contract

On Sunday, the Padres announced the signing of catcher Wynston Sawyer to a minor league contract, as well as inviting the 29-year old to participate with the team in this year’s Spring Training.

Sawyer, a San Diego native, was selected by the Baltimore Orioles in in the eighth round of the 2010 MLB draft. He has yet to see any playing time at the major league level and didn’t get promoted to Triple-A until the 2018 season where he spent time with the Rochester Red Wings in the Twins organization.

The 6’3, 205-pounder has also spent time within the Dodgers and Yankees organizations.
