Padres show their preference before Opening Day

The San Diego Padres made it clear during their last three days of spring training that they value veteran experience and leadership. With two of their most versatile players left off the 26-man roster, they showed that the value they place on experience is above all else.

Catcher Martin Maldonado, who had four hits in twenty-four at-bats, was named to the roster over Luis Campusano. The organization had already shown their preference for experience on Sunday by notifying first baseman and DH Yuli Gurriel that he had made the team. Both infielder/outfielder Eguy Rosario and utility man Tyler Wade now have to be traded or placed on waivers.
